QUESTIONS & ANSWERS ON PLANT WALLS

Plant walls or green walls – both terms are correct. Here you can find our page with answers to your questions regarding green plant walls. If you can’t find an answer to your question, contact us here.

What is required of the wall where a plant wall is to be mounted?

Regardless of whether the green wall is to be mounted on an indoor wall or outdoor wall, the rear wall must be able to withstand a load of 60 kg per m2.

Who installs the plant wall?
Installing a plant wall requires professionals, and at Nature Impact we supply and install our green walls ourselves, so we ensure an amazing and durable result.
Can plant walls be used both outside and inside?
Yes, we use the same system for plant walls inside as well as outside. We adjust the plant mix, so that it’s suitable for the conditions where the wall is to stand.
Can we decide on the pattern of our plant wall ourselves?
You are very welcome to design the appearance of the wall yourselves. Our horticulturalists work with you to find the plants that live up to your wishes.
Can rainwater be reused for watering it?
Yes, you can simply create an LRD project on a green wall. Right now, we have 2 projects in progress: Klarahus in Copenhagen and SDU in Esbjerg. In both places rainwater is collected and then reused for watering.
What does a plant wall weigh?

The plant wall weighs around 60 kg per m2 in saturated state.

We don’t want a pattern, can we make the wall look wilder?

We assemble and select plants based on your wishes and the surroundings where the plants are going to live. Whether you want a wild look, a specific pattern or a uni-coloured wall is entirely up to you.

Can we water the wall ourselves, or do you come and do it?

The plant wall is watered by means of an automatic watering system, which is connected to the building’s Wifi. The whole thing is managed by an app, so you can control the watering directly from your phone.

If you have an operation and maintenance agreement with us, our O&M team monitors the plant wall and checks when the watering should be turned on. With an O&M agreement, change of plants is included in the price – in a nutshell, we take care of everything.

What does a plant wall cost?

The price of plant wall depends on a lot of factors. The number of square metres, whether a lot of cuttings are needed in relation to our standard modules, how high the wall is to be mounted, etc.

For plant walls between 15 m2 and 25 m2 , the price is around DKK 5,500-8,000 per m2. For walls over 25 m2 , the price of the plant wall is project-based.

Is additional lighting needed if the wall is in a basement?

With indoor walls it is often necessary to install extra lighting in the form of a grow light. This is to ensure that the plants produce chloroplast and become green and lush.

Who pays for the maintenance of the wall?

For the first year Nature Impact pays for the operation and care of your plant wall. This is to ensure that the wall “settles down properly” and gets the best growing conditions. Our professional horticulturalists carry out the work.

After that, you take over the operation yourself, or you can sign a new contract with us.
